Via des Evettes

Easily accessible from the lift, “Via des Evettes” was built in October 2016 near the Flégère ski area. Located on the sunny south side of Aiguilles Rouges, this via Ferrata offers a fabulous panorama over the surrounding mountains. It is made of 2 well-defined sections: first a Via Ferrata (metal steps and ladders, segments with a suspended bridge, fixed cables and hand-rails; the vertical gain is 200m ( 660 ft), then a Via Corda ( very easy climb with fixed ropes).

Part 1 Via Ferrata: 3h to 4h round trip from the Flégère gondola (20 min-hike to access the start of the circuit, and 20 min to hike back down from the top of the course to the lift). You need a harness, a helmet and a via ferrata lanyard.

Part 2 Via Corda: this section involves some easy grade 4 climbing and requires regular climbing equipment.

It takes approximately 6 hours to complete both section. Use the Index chairlift to get back down to Flégère.

RELATIVELY NEARBY!

IMPORTANT NOTE :
The route « Balcons de la Mer de Glace » is falsely spoken of as a Via Ferrata, due to the fixed equipment in place. They should be looked at as high mountain itineraries (ladders, moraine screes and boulders, glacier crossing) and are locally referred to as mountaineering access ways.
