Winter courses
La Chamoniarde offers several training courses to improve safety for those progressing to ski outside of secured areas.
SKI TOURING WEEKEND SAFETY
Objective: Acquire and deepen all the knowledge necessary to gain autonomy in your practice and maximize safety.
Required Level: Strong skiing skills in all snow and terrain conditions, prior experience in ski touring (or split-board): mastering kick turns, using ski crampons, maintaining a minimum average climbing speed of 300m/h.
Familiarity with equipment and basic avalanche rescue techniques (having already conducted DVA searches).
Price: €120 for the two days (excluding potential lift pass fees).
ONLY FRENCH SPEAKING
GLACIER SKIING SAFETY WEEKEND
Objective: Learn winter glacier travel techniques for safe progression (roping up, group management, rope maneuvers, anchor setting). Learn (or review) crevasse self-rescue techniques (haul systems and rope ascent).
Prerequisites: Must have previously completed a freeride safety day or a ski touring weekend with La Chamoniarde.
Price: €150 per participant, excluding potential lift pass fees.

SNOW ANALYSIS AND AVALANCHES
Objective: Acquire basic knowledge about snow crystals, the snowpack, types and mechanisms of avalanche triggering, and avalanche forecasting.
Learn how to conduct a snowpit profile and stability tests in the field!
In short, you won't become a full-fledged snow scientist (and anyway, the more you know about snow, the less you understand it!), but you'll become familiar and learn to 'play around' with snow!
Required Level: Experience in ski touring outside of marked routes.
Price: €70 per day (excluding lift pass fees).
