The reason behind it

Practices in the mountains are evolving rapidly, and our association's strength lies in its ability to adapt quickly. The democratization of the mountains, the influence of social media, and image-consciousness have raised new challenges in recent years.

Regarding young individuals, many of them, especially those living in the region with a high skiing skill level, are passionate about extreme mountain skiing, including steep slopes. However, they often lack experience and sufficient knowledge of high-altitude mountain environments, techniques, and risks. They sometimes rush into these activities, fueled by the pursuit of recognition, challenges, and fun. They are young and fearless, but there's currently no guidance available for them in a domain where there's no room for error.

La Chamoniarde has taken action.

Similar to our Freeride Youth programs, our goal is not to encourage, but to support them in their learning process. We aim to guide them step by step, teach them the necessary techniques, familiarize them with the environment, explain the room for improvement, and make them aware of the risks. This way, they will have a comprehensive toolbox and make informed decisions about safety margins. Zero risk doesn't exist, and in the high mountains, relying solely on luck has no place.
